Sclerotherapy, Nonsurgical Treatment-OC Veincare

Treatment of spider veins
Spider veins are very visible to the naked eye. A tiny needle, similar to one used for Botox injections is used to inject the medicine into the spider viens. It is essentially painless. For optimum technical results, Dr.Altuwaijri uses magnification during spider vein sclerotherapy. In addition, an advanced fiber optic based transilluminator; a Veinlite, which shines light below the spider veins to help visualize the ‘feeding veins’. These are also known as reticular veins. Dr.Altuwaijri injects both the feeding veins to the spider veins as well as the spider veins themselves. This ensures superior results as the source of the spider vein is treated rather than the spider vein alone. Each spider vein cluster is rapidly and expertly assessed as to which main 'branch' will be injected. . Typically there is a larger vein connecting the smaller veins that is chosen as the injection site. This avoids multiple unnecessary injections into all the spider vein branches. The technique is very accurate, meticulous and practically painless. Technique and expertise sets Dr. Altuwaijri apart from others.

Treatment of varicose veins
During the comprehensive consultation with Dr.Altuwaijri for varicose veins, a duplex ultrasound will be performed in the office at the same visit. Normal veins have 'one way valves' that help return blood to the heart. In the majority of cases with varicose veins, we find the valves to be 'leaky' as suspected by clinical examination and confirmed by an ultrasound. Ultrasound enables us to determine the appropriate level of treatment by sclerotherapy and assists in follow up visits and progress. Dr.Altuwaijri injects the veins with a medicine. This causes the vein walls to collapse and eventually reabsorbed by the body as the vein shrinks in size. The injections are very well tolerated without any need for an anesthetic.
