What To Expect After Sclerotherapy
After spider vein treatment
Regular and everyday activities may be resumed. There is no downtime after treatment of spider veins of the legs. Side effects may include in a small percentage of patients treated redness at the site of injection, which usually subsides in a couple of hours at most. Mild itching during the injections may occur, this may continue for a few minutes but is easily remedied by a gentle rub during injections. The itching is a result of the medicine's effect as it is being injected. Exercise is encouraged immediately after treatment. Results are typically seen as early as a few days to a couple of weeks. Your body has the amazing ability to heal and begin absorbing the injected veins. Repeat injections are not necessary unless touch-ups are needed. These are typically done in 2-3 weeks. There is no need for compression stockings after spider vein treatment. During your visit, Dr.Altuwaijri will discuss the details of treatment and answer any and all questions you may have.
After varicose vein treatment
Similar to spider vein treatment, resumption of everyday activities is the norm. Immediately after treatment a wrap will be placed by Dr.Altuwaijri to ensure the continued collapse of the large veins and to facilitate the healing process. The wrap is left in place for 48 hours. Compression stockings follow this for 2-3 weeks. There are a variety of more flattering sheer thigh or knee-high stockings available on the market. The old fashioned thick opaque stockings are no longer needed. Your body eventually absorbs the shriveled vein.
After hand vein treatment
Similar to spider veins, there is practically no downtime. Either a wrap or a custom thin fabric gauntlet (glove) will be prescribed following treatment. Some mild swelling of the hands may be experienced which is temporary. Complications from hand vein injections are rare.
In Sclerotherapy of the lower limbs sessions, you may drive yourself home. Exercising such as walking is recommended immediately after treatment.
